Providing quality drinking water at home is a priority for any health-conscious family. Reverse osmosis system Geyser Prestige Smart has proven itself as a reliable and effective solution for deep purification of tap water from impurities, hardness salts and bacteria. Correct Geyser Prestige Smart installation is a critical stage on which the tightness of the connections, the life of the filter elements and the quality of the resulting water directly depend.

Many owners prefer to install the equipment themselves in order to save on the services of service centers and be confident in the quality of each connection. The installation process does not require specialized tools, but it requires care, consistency and accuracy. In this guide, we will analyze in detail all stages of work, from unpacking to the first intake of purified water.

It is important to understand that a reverse osmosis system is a complex engineering device that operates under pressure from the water supply network. Any error during assembly can lead to leaks, kitchen flooding or damage to expensive membrane elements. Therefore, before starting work, it is necessary to carefully study the equipment and prepare the workplace.

⚠️ Attention: Before starting installation, be sure to shut off the cold water supply to the apartment or locally to the pipe going to the mixer. Work is carried out only on a system without pressure.

Preparing for installation and choosing a location

The first step is to carefully prepare the space under the sink. System Geyser Prestige Smart consists of several flasks, a storage tank and a separate tap, so it is important to plan their placement in advance. Typically, the modules are mounted on the vertical surface of the cabinet wall or on the back wall of the kitchen, and the tank is installed on the bottom of the cabinet.

It is necessary to make sure that all system nodes will have easy access for future replacement of cartridges. The distance from the floor to the bottom of the tank should be at least 15-20 cm, so that you can substitute a container for draining water during maintenance. Also check for a free electrical outlet if your modification is equipped with a pressure booster pump or pump.

  • 📏 Check the length of the connecting tubes - the standard is 1.5 meters, which is usually sufficient, but in rare cases an extension may be required.
  • 💡 Make sure that the installation location is protected from direct sunlight to prevent water blooms and the growth of microorganisms inside the flasks.
  • 🔧 Prepare tools: drill for ceramics or metal (diameter 12-13 mm), adjustable wrench, pipe scissors or sharp knife, water container.

Pay special attention to the ambient temperature. Installation Geyser Prestige should be carried out at a temperature not lower than +5°C, since plastic elements become brittle in the cold and can crack when tightening threaded connections.

Assembling a drinking tap and inserting into the pipeline

Installing a drinking faucet is the most visible part of the job and requires drilling a hole in the sink or countertop. If your sink already has a reserved hole for an additional faucet (plug), use it. Otherwise, you will need to carefully drill a hole with a diameter of 12-13 mm in a free space on the countertop or sink.

The drilling process should be performed at low drill speeds so as not to damage the enamel or laminate. After drilling, the edges of the hole are cleaned of burrs. The threaded rod of the faucet is inserted into the hole, a rubber gasket, a washer and a nut are put on the bottom of the sink, after which the structure is securely fixed.

Next, you need to organize a tie-in into the water supply system. To do this, use a special mortise clamp-tee included in the kit. It is installed on the cold water pipe going to the mixer. It is important to select a flat section of the pipe, clean it and stick the rubber seal on the inside of the clamp.

The procedure for installing a mortise clamp:

1. Turn off the water and release the pressure.

2. Drill a hole in the pipe with a 6-7 mm drill (through the rubber gasket of the clamp).

3. Put on the clamp and tighten the bolts tightly with a wrench.

⚠️ Attention: When drilling a pipe, be sure to place a rag or use a vacuum cleaner under the clamp to prevent metal shavings from getting inside the water pipe, otherwise they could damage the plumbing or shut-off valves.

After installing the clamp, screw the ball valve onto it. The tap thread must be pre-sealed with FUM tape or thread Tangit Unilock to guarantee tightness. This connection will be under constant pressure, so you cannot skimp on the seal.

Installation of a storage tank and placement of modules

System storage tank Geyser Prestige Smart must be prepared before installation. Factory air pressure has already been created inside the tank (usually 0.5-0.7 atm), which is checked through a nipple hidden under a plastic cap. Before connecting the water, it is recommended to check and, if necessary, pump up the air to 0.6-0.7 atm using a regular bicycle pump.

The tank is installed vertically on a flat surface at the bottom of the cabinet. For ease of connection, a sealant is wound onto the tank thread and a plastic valve is screwed on. You need to tighten the valve by hand, without using wrenches, so as not to strip the plastic thread. The tank valve must remain closed during installation.

Filter modules (flasks) are mounted on the cabinet wall using special plastic clip holders. Position them so that the pipes from the flush-mounted faucet and the drinking water tap reach the corresponding fittings without tension. The optimal distance between the centers of the flasks is about 10-15 cm.

  • 💧 Make sure that the tank is stable and will not tip over when completely filled with water (the weight of a full tank can reach 10-12 kg).
  • 🛡️ Place the flasks so that the markings on them are clearly visible - this will simplify the future replacement of cartridges.
  • 🚰 Leave a gap between the tank and filter modules for easy pipe routing and access to connections.
💡

Before finally fixing the clips to the wall, temporarily hang the modules on tape or wire to try on the length of the tubes and make sure that they are not strained.

Tube connection diagram and connection sequence

The most important step is connecting all the nodes with polyethylene tubes. For system Geyser Prestige Smart scheme connection is standard for most reverse osmosis systems, but requires strict adherence to the sequence. The tubes are cut into even cuts at an angle of 90 degrees to ensure a tight connection in the fittings.

The connection is made using the “quick release” method: the tube is inserted into the fitting until it stops (approximately 15-20 mm). To remove the tube, you need to press the locking ring (collet) with your fingers and at the same time pull out the tube. It is absolutely forbidden to simply pull the tube without pressing the collet - this will damage the O-rings.

Connection is carried out in the following order:

  1. The tube from the cut-in tap (cold water inlet) is connected to the inlet of the first flask (prefilter), which is often marked as IN or Feed.
  2. The outlet from the third flask (mechanical cleaning) is connected to the inlet to the reverse osmosis membrane (usually the inlet on one side, the outlet of drainage and clean water on the other).
  3. The tube coming from the clean water outlet of the membrane is connected to the fitting of the storage tank.
  4. The drain line outlet (solenoid valve or flow restrictor) is connected to the sewer clamp.
  5. The outlet from the tank and the outlet from the carbon post-filter (last flask) are connected to the drinking tap.
System node Designation on the flask Where to connect Tube diameter
Water inlet IN / Feed Mortise valve on a pipe 1/4 inch
Output to membrane OUT / To RO Membrane input 1/4 inch
Clean water outlet Pure / Tank Storage tank 1/4 inch
Drainage Drain / Waste Sewerage 1/4 inch

The drain line must be routed to the sewer. To do this, a special clamp with a hole is installed on the sink siphon. The tube is cut at an angle of 45 degrees to create flow turbulence and inserted into the clamp. It is important that the end of the tube is not immersed in wastewater, but is above the liquid level in the siphon.

Flushing the system and first start

After all the connections are assembled, the critical moment comes - the first launch. Washing Geyser cartridges is required, since new filters contain preservative liquid and coal dust. Skipping this step may result in membrane failure or contamination of the drinking water.

Open the valve on the mortise faucet. Water will begin to flow into the system. At this stage, the drinking water tap on the sink should be open, and the tap on the tank should be closed. Air will flow through an open tap, followed by water. The first portion of water (approximately 1-2 liters) must be drained to rinse the mechanical and carbon filters.

Then turn off the drinking tap and open the tap on the tank. The system will begin to fill the storage tank. This process can take from 2 to 5 hours depending on the pressure in the water supply and the condition of the membrane. During this period, it is necessary to carefully monitor all connections for leaks.

⚠️ Attention: During the first hours of operation, the system may make gurgling sounds - this is normal, as dissolved air comes out of the water. However, if you hear a whistle or see a constant flow of water into the drain after the tank has been filled, check the connections.

After filling the tank (it will become heavy), you must empty it completely through the drinking tap. It is recommended to repeat this “fill-drain” procedure 2-3 times. Only after this is the water considered suitable for drinking and cooking.

Why can water foam?

At first, white bubbles may appear in the reverse osmosis water. This is not chemistry, but air dissolved under pressure, which expands when leaving the tap and creates the effect of “milky” water. This goes away after 1-2 weeks of active use.

Maintenance and replacement of filter elements

Regular maintenance is the key to a long system life. The service life of pre-treatment cartridges (mechanical and carbon) is about 6 months, after which they need to be replaced. A reverse osmosis membrane lasts 1.5-2 years, and a post-filter lasts up to 1 year. Untimely replacement leads to a drop in productivity and deterioration in the quality of cleaning.

To replace cartridges, turn off the water at the cut-in tap and open the drinking tap to relieve pressure. Using a special wrench, unscrew the flasks. When installing new elements, make sure that the rubber seals are lubricated with silicone grease (food grade) and do not have any creases.

  • 📅 Keep a replacement log or stick the date of the last cartridge replacement on the filter housing.
  • 🧼 With each replacement, wipe the internal surfaces of the flasks from slimy plaque (biofilm) with a soft sponge without detergents.
  • 🔍 Check the pressure in the tank once a year by pumping air through the nipple while the water is drained.

Following these simple rules will allow the system Geyser Prestige Smart work flawlessly for many years, providing you with crystal clear water.

💡

Water quality depends 90% on timely replacement of prefilters. If you skip replacing them, the reverse osmosis membrane will clog much faster than its service life.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How long does it take to install the Geyser Prestige Smart filter?

For a person with basic skills and a prepared tool, the process takes from 40 minutes to 1.5 hours. This time includes drilling a hole, tapping into pipes, assembling pipes and an initial leak test. If complex piping through cabinets is required, the time may increase.

Does the system need to be disinfected after installation?

A standard flush of 2-3 full tank volumes is usually sufficient to remove the preservative. However, if you want to be sure of sterility, you can use special tablets to disinfect reverse osmosis systems, following the instructions on the product packaging.

What should I do if, after installation, water constantly flows into the sewer?

This may indicate several problems: the tube is not fully inserted into the drain fitting, the flow limiter is faulty, or the membrane does not hold pressure (water goes into the drain, not into the tank). Also check that the valve on the tank is completely closed when checking.

Is it possible to install the filter in an unheated room?

Strongly not recommended. At temperatures below +5°C, the water inside the flasks may freeze, causing the flask body and membrane to rupture. In addition, plastic becomes brittle in the cold.

What is the minimum water pressure required for the system to operate?

For classical operation without a pump, the minimum pressure should be at least 2.5-3 atmospheres. If your water supply pressure is lower, the system will not work efficiently, a lot of water will go down the drain, and the tank may not fill completely. In such cases, a model with a pump is required.
