What is EPTS and why individuals need to register with it

From November 1, 2023, an electronic vehicle passport (EPTS) has become the main document for vehicle registration in Russia. For individuals registration in the system EPTS has become mandatory when buying, selling or re-registering a car. Who should register with EPTS: categories of individuals

After successful registration, you will have access to complete information about the car. Your personal account displays:

1. Mismatch of data in the traffic police and EPTS

If during verification the system writes "Data not found", the reason may lie in:

• 📝 Outdated data in the traffic police (for example, the car has not yet been re-registered to you);
• 🚫 Imposed restrictions (arrest, bail).

Solution: Check the data via official website of the traffic police or contact the MREO to update the information.

2. Problems with authorization through State Services

If the button "Login through State Services" doesn't work:

• 🔄 Refresh the page (sometimes clearing the browser cache helps);
• 📱 Check that the phone number is in Public services confirmed;
• 🛡️ Disable ad blockers (they can block authorization scripts).

3. Stuck at the verification stage

If after entering data the system freezes or gives an error "The service is temporarily unavailable":

• ⏳ Wait 10-15 minutes and try again (technical work is possible);
• 🌐 Try another browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge);
• 📧 Write to portal support (usually a response comes within 1 business day).

How to register in EPTS without State Services: alternative methods

If you do not have a verified account on Public services, registration in EPTS is still possible, but will require a personal visit to the MFC or traffic police department. Let's consider both options:

1. Registration through the MFC

To do this:

1. Make an appointment via MFC website (service "Registration in the EPTS system");
2. Take with you:
   • 📄 Passport;
   • 🚗 STS or PTS;
   • 📝 Application (the form will be issued on the spot).

Application processing time is up to 3 working days. After this, you will receive a login username and password via email.

2. Registration through the traffic police

If you simultaneously register a car in your name (for example, after purchase), you can register with EPTS directly to MREO:

1. When submitting documents for vehicle registration, inform the inspector that you want to create an account EPTS;
